If you enjoy a new adult, enemies-to-lovers. high school romance then I highly recommend this book! I loved the angsty vibes and real emotions.
Rating: ★★★★
Release Date: March 10, 2021
Genre: New Adult. High School Romance.

Series: Easton High #1
Pages: 435 pages
Format: eBook. Source: Kindle Unlimited.
It all started with an anonymous letter.

He wasn’t supposed to find it—no one was. And he definitely wasn’t supposed to answer it.

We end up talking through letters and sticky notes in a book. One sticky note. Two sticky notes. Ten sticky notes. All baring our darkest, deepest secrets.

It’s all fun and games until I find out who my pen pal is...

Xavier Emery. King of my basketball-obsessed town, my childhood bully, and the guy I am in grave danger of falling in love with.

But the rules were clear: we can never know who we’re talking to,
and the confessions can never, ever get out. Seriously. It would destroy lives.

Fine by me. Even if Mr. Popular does find out his confidant is little old me, it’s not like he’d ever love me back…

Right?

**Dear Love, I Hate You is a complete standalone containing mature themes.

READ MY BOOK REVIEW

It’s been a little while since I’ve read a new adult romance book so this one really hit the spot for me. Even better, this is a new to me author! I love finding new authors to read 😊, So I feel like my overall experience with this one was really great!

As I mentioned this is a new adult romance, but it takes place in high school. The only reason I say it’s new adult rather than young adult is because there is sex, partying, etc. I feel like a book that falls under the YA category will be clean and this one wasn’t – and yes, I am totally okay with that! Dear Love, I Hate you is also a bit of an enemies-to-lovers romance, but it doesn’t last the entire book. The two MCs have quite a bit of distaste for one another in the beginning but that evaporates once they spend some time together. Is it still angst? Yes! They may not hate each other through the entire book but they don’t even really KNOW who each other is because they have been communicating through notes without knowing WHO the person on the other end is! I love a good “pen pals” romance and while this one doesn’t span time and oceans it's fun to “watch” them begin to fall for one another through letters ESPECIALLY because they didn’t care for each other in the beginning.

Another thing I really loved about this book is that the author threw in some real-world issues. Xavier for example is dealing with troubles at home which is making him act out in ways that he wouldn’t otherwise. I have to say what his mother is going through made me SO MAD but seeing the way he dealt with those issues felt natural for his age. I love when an author can make things seem REALISTIC and this one certainly did. Vee is also dealing with issues in the family and while they are quite a bit different than the ones Xavier is suffering through, they DO add a ton of emotion to the story. I absolutely loved this and felt a lot of tugs on my heartstrings.

If you enjoy a NA, high school romance then this is a must-read book for you! I can’t say enough good things about it, and I enjoyed it immensely while reading. I know that because of this book I’ll be reading a LOT more books from Eliah Greenwood in the near future!
