This book had me wanting to rip my hair out! The cheating, the back and forth, it all got to be a little too much for me. Normally I can take a book with cheating but this one...
Rating: ★★★
Release Date: June 11, 2011
Genre: New Adult. College Romance. Love Triangle.

Series: Thoughtless #1
Pages: 530 pages
Format: Paperback. Purchased.
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author S.C. Stephens comes a powerful and emotional contemporary romance featuring a young woman in a new city who finds herself torn between her handsome, reliable boyfriend and a sexy local rock star.

For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.

Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes... and none of them will ever be the same.

Genre: New Adult College Romance
Series: Thoughtless #1 (this is a 3 book trilogy)

Okay. Fair warning now. My entire review is probably going to be a major spoiler . If you have NOT read the book and are planning to I would recommend not reading the rest of my rant (I mean review).

Thoughtless. So many people have adored this novel and sung high praises about it. I can certainly understand people falling in love with Kellan who happens to be the rockstar hero in this book. He is certainly dreamy and has a heart full of gold (when he's not sneaking around behind his friends back). Kellan's childhood was not an easy one and what he endured by the hands of his father was horrific. I felt deeply for his pain and UNDERSTOOD why he was looking for love the way he did. Heck, I could even understand why he betrayed his friend. It's the FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE he has ever felt loved by another human being. Is it justifiable, what he did? Screwing one of his good friends girlfriend? A couple times... Even when her boyfriend was IN THE OTHER ROOM? Nope. But I understand the destructive tendencies he had. The author made this very clear to me. I don't condone it but I can certainly see WHY he was holding onto something even though it was wrong.

Let me step back a minute
This entire book is about two people cheating.

Kiera is the heroine. She follows Denny, the supposed love of her life, all the way to Seattle to be with him when he lands an amazing job (one he has wanted FOREVER). Things are going great at first but then Denny has to start traveling for his job. This leaves Kiera feeling hurt as she simply cannot stand being away from him.

I get it man. No one wants the person they love to be gone for a month or two. It sucks. But as an adult, I realize it's life. Why not SUPPORT the man you say you love? Hmm....

So yea. Denny needs to travel for work (work he LOVES BTW) and leaves Kiera at their new home with their roommate Kellan. Kellan and Kiera are cool at first but something seems to be simmering between the two. Then one night after Denny calls Kiera to tell her he was offered a job in another state and took it she goes off the deep end and cheats on him with Kellan.

One time would be a mistake. Life happens, people mess up, but then it goes on and we remember how to behave.

Then she does it again. AFTER Denny dropped the job he loves to come home to her. It happens WHILE HE IS IN THE BAR that all three of them are at. SMH. I almost threw this damn book out the window at this point. I also almost stopped reading but was HOPING there would be some sort of redeption. So I kept on...

Kiera literally went back in forth through the REST OF THE BOOK about who she should choose. Safety with Denny? Or fiery passion with Kellan? She tells Kellan she chooses him. She tells Denny she chooses him. And it's a whole 100 pages or so of this back and forth nonsense. Ladies and gents, I was seething. Books with cheating and love triangles DON'T bother me. But Kiera was such a tease and a liar that I had an awfully hard time caring for her at all. In fact, I downright loathed her. Kellan could have done so much better. Sorry to those who loved her, I just didn't.

In the end, after all the drama, ups and downs, near deaths, and a whole lot of eye rolling moments these two finally end up together. I don't know if I'll ever end up reading the next book because I could care less for the heroine but I will do a little research on it to see if it can redeem this one.

So you are probably wondering why I am giving this 3 stars rather than 2 or 1. The answer is simple. I felt the hot passion between Kiera and Kellan. It drove me insane but it was definitely there. It sort of made me feel like I felt when reading FSoG. It touched me. So while I couldn't stand Kiera, I loved the passion and the way it came off the pages. S.C. Stephens can pen that for sure!
