If you are looking for a fantastic and thrilling book to read by the pool this year, I highly recommend this one. I take you on a journey that will leave you riveted.
Rating:★★★★
Release Date: July 3, 2018
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Series: None. Standalone.

Pages: 384 pages
Format: eBook. ARC.
In the latest thriller from the bestselling author of Final Girls, a young woman returns to her childhood summer camp to uncover the truth about a tragedy that happened there fifteen years ago.

Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. But the games ended the night Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin into the darkness. The last she--or anyone--saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips.

Now a rising star in the New York art scene, Emma turns her
past into paintings--massive canvases filled with dark leaves and gnarled branches that cover ghostly shapes in white dresses. When the paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the wealthy owner of Camp Nightingale, she implores Emma to return to the newly reopened camp as a painting instructor. Seeing an opportunity to find out what really happened to her friends all those years ago, Emma agrees.

Familiar faces, unchanged cabins, and the same dark lake haunt Nightingale, even though the camp is opening its doors for the first time since the disappearances. Emma is even assigned to the same cabin she slept in as a teenager, but soon discovers a security camera--the only one on the property--pointed directly at its door. Then cryptic clues that Vivian left behind about the camp's twisted origins begin surfacing. As she digs deeper, Emma finds herself sorting through lies from the past while facing mysterious threats in the present. And the closer she gets to the truth about Camp Nightingale and what really happened to those girls, the more she realizes that closure could come at a deadly price.

Recommended Read

The Last Time I Lied is an excellent novel of psychological suspense. I enjoyed it immensely and now want to go back and give The Final Girls another try (I had a hard time with it when it was released last year). If you are looking for a fantastic and thrilling book to read by the pool this year, I highly recommend this one. I take you on a journey that will leave you riveted. If you're looking for a book that will keep you interested from beginning to end, one that makes you feel as crazy as the characters, and one that keeps you guessing until the bitter end, then I recommend this one.

This book is told in both the past and present. In past tense, readers will learn about 4 teenage girls. Three of these girls goes missing, and the other is still alive. But what does she know (if anything) about this disappearance? Does she have anything to do with it? Or was she the lucky one. Readers will enjoy this aspect of the book because it truly brings everything together. You learn what lead up to their disappearance, and what happens 15 years later. Personally, I was more interested in the past, but I think this book does an excellent job at the present tense as well.

In the present, Emma returns to camp when it is reopened. It's 15 years later, but still, no one knows what happened to the three girls that vanished. So Emma makes it her mission to figure out what really happened to her friends. Unfortunately, the past doesn't stay buried and soon, she is in danger... Will Emma ever truly be able to figure out what happened? Or will his suspicions lead to her own disappearance?

Readers, this is an excellent novel and the perfect read for summer! It's dark, foreboding, interesting, and thrilling! The narrator (Emma) is one of those characters that you think is somewhat unreliable, making it even more intense! I really enjoyed this one and very much recommend it to anyone who loves a good thriller!
