New Adult | Coming of Age | Rockstar Romance
Emma Scott kicks off a brand-new series with a bang! The Girl in the Love Song is an emotional coming of age tale that follows Miller and Violet as they navigate their close friendship and ultimately love. As with all of Emma’s novels, this book is deeply moving, and satisfying read with a touch of drama and a whole lot of love. It also gives a fresh take on the rockstar romance trope and made me fall for the sub-genre all over again. If you’ve read Emma’s books, you’ll not only notice that she can make an overused trope feel unique, but she also has a certain flair that incorporates real life issues into her novels. In this one, such issues include homelessness and juvenile diabetes.
Miller and Violet met by chance one night and have essentially been inseparable since. The two may be complete opposites in every way, but there’s an undeniable connection between the two that leads them to a forever type friendship. Weaving through the months and years we see these two grow together. We see the trouble that both Miller and Violet face in their home-lives, and we bond with them through connections forged because of their issues. We see friendship turn to more, we see mistakes, regrets, and assumptions. But most of all, we see an epic love story between two people who are destined for one another. I loved Miller and Violet. I loved how they LOVED each other, and I loved being a part of their journey as they navigated high school, college, and fame. This is a beautiful love story, one that completely held my heart from the moment I started reading and wouldn’t let go.
If you’ve read an Emma Scott novel, you know how precious they are. Her stories unfold in the most gorgeous and sometimes heartbreaking way, but they are so unique and epic that you can forgive the heartache you felt when reading. This is why I’m such a big fan of her novels and why I recommend this one and all the others to fellow readers.
