Contemporary Romance | Mental Illness
Midnight Lily is one of the most unconventional and unique romance novels that I have ever read. My mind is still reeling from that ending. I’m confused, uplifted, and feeling so many different emotions that I can barely think straight. This book is going to mess with your mind while pulling you into the passion and undeniable chemistry between Lily and Holden(/Ryan). I bet anyone who HAS read this book can relate to my confusion, disbelief, and utter astonishment when it comes to this book. Sigh…
Without giving away the plot (because honestly, I don’t know if I fully understand it myself), I’ll leave this review as clean of spoilers as I can. This is a book about mental illness. It’s a story about two damaged souls who find each other through the darkness no matter where life takes them. I don’t know for sure if it’s considered a paranormal read, but from what I felt while reading there is a bit of mysticism within the story. The ending of the book is not clear but you can gather your thoughts and come up with some possibility of what happens by inference. There are certainly small clues scattered throughout the story that leads you to believe one thing but if that’s what is actually happening is beyond me! I know, my review is confusing but to understand my mind frame right now you’d have to actually read this beautiful story.
While it may be a few years older, this is definitely a book I would recommend wholeheartedly to romance readers who want something DIFFERENT. I’ve never read a book like this before and doubt I’ll find something as raw and intense as this one.
