KISS AND BREAK UP BY ELLA FIELDS

Ella Fields is an absolute pro when it comes to writing new adult, angsty romances and it shows in this book! Kiss and Break Up is everything I was hoping it would be and I felt the push and pull of these two from the beginning.
Rating: ★★★★
Release Date: March 4, 2019
Genre: YA/NA romance

Series: None. Standalone.
Pages: 268 pages
Format:eBook. Borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.

Dashiell Thane wasn’t a nice guy.
He was an abrasive, demanding, conniving, intolerable brat.
Yet somehow, we’d been best friends our whole lives.
Until our senior year when I finally decided to dip my toes into the dating pool.

All it took was one kiss for jealousy, lies, and betrayal to sweep in and propel us heart first into dizzying, hostile depths.

You’re not supposed to kiss your best friend.
You’re definitely not supposed to kiss your best friend while you’re dating someone else.
And the absolute worst thing you could do is fall for your best friend.
Unless, of course, you want to ruin everything.

Release Date: March 4, 2019
Genre: Young Adult HS Romance
Actual Rating: 4.25 stars

Kiss and Break Up is everything I hoped and expected it to be. There's drama, sex, drinking, partying, and an angsty love story. I love watching Peggy and Dash fall in love even though it took most of the book for them to open up their eyes and finally realize their feelings for one another. The push and pull between these two was humerus, but so cute to watch that you couldn't help but smile. I love how the two are best friends turned lovers (they first got "together" when practicing Peg's first kiss) and enjoyed the drama that pushed them apart. I guess I just needed a book like this and it really hit the mark. The one thing I will admit (why I couldn't give it 5 stars) is because it started off a little slow for me. I also couldn't "see it" at first (them being together) and it threw me for a little while. Other than this, it's a really great read and I always know where to go when I need a NA/YA romance.

To break it down, this is a young adult, best friends to lovers romance. You've got rich kids who won't mind drinking, partying, smoking, and taking the occasional drug- everything expected in this kind of a book. There's a little drama (again, makes sense for the genre), and a ton of angst! If you are in the mood for a book that encompasses all this, I would certainly recommend this one to you! It's like a One Tree Hill episode wrapped into a book!

I hope the author makes this a series as well. There are a couple secondary characters who NEED their own book (Jackson *cough cough*). I think many readers will fully agree with me!
