It comes as not surprise to me that Sophie Kinsella has written another fantastic and hilarious novel. One would think her quirky characters would eventually get old but this isn't the case! I absolutely loved this book. And I highly recommend it.

Fixie Farr has always lived by her father’s motto: “Family first.” And since her dad passed away, leaving his charming housewares store in the hands of his wife and children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesn’t take care of her father’s legacy, who will?

It’s simply not in Fixie’s nature to say no to people. So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, she not only agrees—she ends up saving it from certain disaster. To thank Fixie for her quick thinking, the computer’s owner, Sebastian, an investment manager, scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card. Fixie laughs it off—she’d never actually claim an IOU from a stranger. Would she?
But then Fixie’s childhood crush, Ryan, comes back into her life, and his lack of a profession pushes all of Fixie’s buttons. As always, she wants nothing for herself—but she’d love Seb to give Ryan a job. No sooner has Seb agreed than the tables are turned once more and a new series of IOUs between Seb and Fixie—from small favors to life-changing moments—ensues. Soon Fixie, Ms. Fixit for everyone else, is torn between her family and the life she really wants. Does she have the courage to take a stand? Will she finally grab the life, and love, she really wants?

I Owe You One is another winner from bestselling author (and personal favorite of mine), Sophie Kinsella! I absolutely adored this book. I saw a little of myself within Fixie, connected with her character on a deep level, and loved the changes that happened in her life in the end. I was truly rooting for Fixie the whole way through and loved watching her progress from being a girl everyone walked all over to a woman who takes charge. If you are a fan of Sophie Kinsella and have been reading her books since the beginning (like I have) then you will notice that this is a classic Kinsella novel. The author has a certain sparkle within her novels and it certainly hasn't been dimmed! I very much recommend it.

As with most of the authors novels, the heroine of the stories always start off as a little naive. This is no different with Fixie in I Owe You One. Some may find it exhausting that her characters have very little backbone, but I myself find it refreshing. Too many times in novels are heroines shown to be nearly perfect and that's just not realistic. Everyone has flaws. In Fixie's case, her flaw is allowing people to walk all over her because she thinks she needs to stand by her family at any cost. This makes her character very meek (and a little bit weak in the beginning). But as she begins to find herself you see a growth inside her that shines above everything else and this is what made me really love her. Ladies and gents, none of us are perfect. Some of us as more prone to put others first over ourselves (like Fixie), and others walk all over people to get to the top. Many of us are right in the middle- we speak up for ourselves but don't allow others to knock us down in the process. But this story can be perceived as realistic in a way that many people live just as Fixie does. So all in all, her character to me is a breath of fresh air. She's a little silly, very sweet, and just wants her family to have everything they can. I loved her!

Some of the secondary characters in the novel had me scratching my head and wanting to pull my hair out- they certainly added the dramatic effect in the novel, but I was glad in the end to see everyone basically be put in their places. If they annoy you while reading just remember, it get's better!!!

Anyway, enough with my rant. I obviously loved this book, I feel passionate about it and enjoyed reading every single second of it. I love the authors writing style which is original to her, the way she builds her characters around a certain issue, and the way everything comes together in the end. Obviously, I also recommend it! I hope all that do decide to grab a copy enjoy it as much as I did.
