I’ve always been a good girl.

I work hard, I follow the rules, I always achieve my goals.

But sometimes good girls want things that aren’t good for them.
Or someone who isn’t good for them.
Like their new boss.

And sometimes they do very bad things to get his attention.
Like sell their virginity in an auction.

Who knew he’d be so very, very mad?
Maybe this was not my best laid plan…

Good Girl by Jana Aston is a standalone, romantic comedy that encompasses many different tropes. The hero is a millionaire/billionaire, there is an age gap between the characters, and this is an office romance (he's her boss). If you are a fan of any of these then this may be a great fit for you. As for my thoughts, I was going back and fourth on whether I liked this book or not. There were some things I loved about it and some that I HATED. Let's start with the good stuff.

The heroine of the story just graduated college and finds herself a great job at an up and coming casino in Las Vegas. The idea that the book was set in this grand city really intrigued me. I don't normally read books set here so I liked the idea of going somewhere different. Another thing I loved about this book was the heroines best friend Peyton. She is an absolute RIOT. I am super excited that her story is coming up next because she has a quirky personality and the kind of attitude that I love in characters- she's totally over the top!

Now for the stuff that bothered me. The heroine Lydia was MAD ANNOYING. She came off as dumb, naive, and completely forgettable. This girl is a recent collage grad and talks and acts like she is a 15 year old girl. Had I not known she was at the age of consent I would have thought this book was a different kind of book all together (insert creepy vibes). Had I not wanted to see what happens in the story I would have stopped reading solely because of how much she irritated me. I know this sounds harsh, but it is true. The hero was also unlikable. There were moments of complete creepiness coming off him... The way he talked to her sexually? A total turnoff. I seriously CRINGED when he started asking her about sex and skipped to other paragraphs to get away from it all. Again, this is harsh but TRUE.

Now, some may wonder why I gave the book 3 stars if I didn't like either characters and I'll tell you why. First, the outcome of their relationship made me smile. I liked the ending and thought it was really sweet. Secondly, Peyton stole the show for me and made me want to read it just to learn more about her character (and hear the crazy stuff that came out of her mouth). I ADORED her. She's not a dumb pile of rocks like Lydia (sorry).

So there you have it. This book was OKAY. The secondary characters made it redeemable and I don't think I would have finished it had they not been in the book. :D That's all I have to say for now. I do look forward to Jana's next novel (Peyton's story), but this book was just NOT up to par with her previous books.
