Read my Book Review
Release Date: July 20, 2018
Genre: Dark Romance
Actual Rating: 4 stars
Church by Stylo Fantome is an original and dark romance. The author has a flair for uniquely dark reads such as this, so it's no surprise that I enjoyed this one. Emma and Church are both deeply depraved and their minds are quite a mess, but as a couple they belong together- they are like puzzle pieces and fit together perfectly. Their first official meeting and the lust that follows it happened quickly (somewhat too quickly for my tastes) but in the end, it felt right for these two and their personalities. As for the trigger warning, I didn't think this was as dark as some of the authors previous reads that DESERVED such trigger warnings (like The Bad Ones) but there are moments that are pretty dark, so I appreciated the warning none the less. But don't be fooled. This book isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I think those who are afraid of darker romances may like this one over some of the authors other books.
In any event, I want to keep this review spoiler free, so I won't go into plot details. It's a quick read, easy to get through, and can easily be finished in one sitting. It hinges on the darker side (these two are completely twisted) but isn't so dark that it obliterates the story.
Fans of the author and those who like darker reads should definitely give this one a try. You will be anxiously awaiting book 2 though and it doesn't release until October (GASP), but it doesn't necessarily end on the dreaded cliffy that leaves you aching.
About the Author
Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
