If you haven’t read that one yet and plan to read this one, don’t fret. This one CAN stand alone. Characters from previous books do play small parts in this one but not enough to spoil their stories or cause confusion in this one. This book features a new couple. Southern Storm has an ample amount of suspense and intrigue. I wasn’t expecting it to be so suspenseful, but I liked how there was a bit of mystery thrown into the story. Natasha does a great job at giving her readers a mix of swoony romance and intrigue. She also writes a marriage of convenience into this one so if you’re a fan of the trope you’’ll want to check it out. Now, while I enjoyed this book as a whole, especially after reading the first two books in the series, there were a few things that left me in confusion. The first thing, I felt like we were literally DROPPED right into a story. I was hoping for a prologue to remind me of where this couple “came from” especially since their story STARTED at the conclusion of Southern Comfort, but there wasn’t one. It took me a bit to actually get into the story because my mind kept trying to remember these two. Another thing I felt should have been added to the story a bit more was Savannah’s son Ethen. I understand NOW after I finished the story why he’s with Jacob so much (you’ll understand if you read book 2) but I couldn’t for the life of me remember WHY until I finished. Again, a prologue would have been helpful here. Savannah is after all a single mom and we RARELY see her being a mom throughout the book. Mayor Beau is a great hero. He’s strong, protective, and has a heart full of gold. One would wonder HOW he got to be such a great man because his father is such a horrible guy, but he’s definitely a precious gem mixed in with all the ugly stones. He’s also an alpha man through and through and watching him protect Savannah was wonderful to watch. If you like strong heroes you’ll want to read all about Beau because he’s delicious! Finally, this is a story about healing and even though Savannah’s issues got on my nerves, it was nice to watch her come into her own despite all the crap thrown at her. She’s a strong woman and I adore authors who write women to be like this. If you’re looking for a new book and have read the previous books in the series, you won’t want to miss this installment. While it wasn’t my favorite in the series (only because I had a hard time remembering all the facts), it is a good one and many readers will enjoy it immensely. BOOK TEASERSABOUT NATASHA MADISONWhen her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...
