READ MY BOOK REVIEW
What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall is a psychological thriller/mystery novel that follows a woman who goes back to her childhood hometown years after being almost stabbed to death as a child. The author does a decent job making her characters believable after the tragedy which is probably what I liked most about this one. However, for such a short book it really dragged in a lot of areas. I also felt like it was really similar to Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham with a few short plot details that were different. Finally, the twist at the end? I saw that coming. Probably because I’ve read so many thriller books that its hard to surprise me anymore but still, I saw it before the reveal. In any event, this is still a good book (the storyline is good) but it wasn’t a favorite and I didn’t find it to be original.
