Release Date: June 31, 2012
Genre: Young Adult Romance
Actual Rating: 5+ stars
If I could rate this book higher than 5 stars I would. It's a beautiful, emotional, and stunning read. Considering that this is a YA romance that takes place in a high school I am surprised as to how much this book affected me. Normally, these types of books are quite cheesy and unbelievable but that's not the case here. For all the readers, bloggers, and bookstagrammers that recommended this to me, I thank you. This is a new top favorite book that I won't be forgetting. Even better, I know that I will be re-reading it again in the future.
Katie McGarry brings her readers an unforgettable read about two damaged people who not only find love but find meaning in their lives despite the terrible hardships they have and continue to endure. Pushing the Limits is a book where all the limits are pushed in these characters lives and although the journey is a tough one, the obstacles are worth it in the end. This book deals with mental health issues, loss, and living life as part of the system. It's a realistic portrayal when it comes to these social issues, and I commend Katie for bringing this story to life through these characters and their situations. Honestly, I can't begin to describe how much I loved this book. Readers would have to read this one themselves in order to understand just how powerful it is. I recommend it so much.
I'm not going to use my review as a way to reconstruct the synopsis. You can read that yourselves. But I will say that it's a beautiful young adult romance that all readers (no matter what age) should experience. Don't let the fact that it's a YA novel scare you away either because it doesn't read like one. It reads like a beautiful but challenging love story between two people who are fated to be together despite their life circumstances.
