READ MY BOOK REVIEW
Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney is an excellent murder mystery. It has the vibes of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, mixed with a certain twist that reminds me of another popular book I’ve read. I don’t want to say WHAT book that is because it would spoil this one, but it worked extremely well for this twisted mystery.
One of my favorite things about this book was the claustrophobic feelings I felt while reading. The Darker family is trapped in a house they cannot get out of until the tide goes out and one by one, they end up dead. Readers not only FEEL this sense of dread and claustrophobia but will be chilled by the dark poems and sense of forebodingness. These characters are unlikeable but watching them fall victim to an unknown killer is terrifying! So if you’re looking for a spooky season then this is one you definitely want to check out!
Now the twist. It’s a good twist and I know many readers will be shocked by it. I was not one of those readers. I saw this twist coming after about 30 pages. Thankfully that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. And even if YOU also guess the twist, it doesn’t mean you’ve figured out the killer. The spectacular twist is different than the “who-dun-it”. So, keep reading if you’ve already figured one part out!
