Soon Selena finds her once-perfect life upended. As she is pulled into the mystery of the missing nanny, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, Selena begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover.
Expertly plotted and reminiscent of the timeless classic Strangers on a Train, Confessions on the 7:45 is a gripping thriller about the delicate facades we create around our lives.

Tropes: Domestic Thriller | Suspense
I’ve been a fan of Lisa Unger’s thrillers for quite some time now. I can even vividly remember the very first book I had read by her and loved (IN HER BLOOD so many years ago! So, to say that I love her novels would be an understatement. I have read and loved so many that it’s easy to say she’s one of my favorite thriller writers. Unfortunately, no matter how much we love and author and the stories she brings us there are bound to be some that are a “miss” for us. This one tends to sway that way for me. Here’s why:
Confessions on the 7:45 was extremely 𝗦𝗟𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚. For the topics within the plot and the way everything happened in such a quick timespan, I would have expected this to be a faced paced read. But for some reason, it felt extremely slow for me. Perhaps I’m just not a fan of a crime thriller that deals with conning others? It honestly could be that- “it’s not you (the author), it’s ME (the reader). On the other hand, this book had so many moving parts and point of views that confusion did seep into my reading sometimes. Could that be why I felt it was slow? Possibly. In the end, neither of these two things worked for me and I just wasn’t able to end up loving it like I have her past books. That’s not to say her writing didn’t flow and excite me because IT DID. Lisa Unger has the ability to pull me into a story no matter what it’s about. However, this one didn’t totally work for me. THAT’S OKAY TOO! I would still read her books and I know I’ll still be excited when she releases another one.
If you’re a fan of crime thrillers with fantastic plot twists (this one has MANY) then you can’t go wrong with this one. While it wasn’t my favorite it was still an enjoyable read and I would recommend it.
