I should hate him.
But like a Bad Habit, I can’t quit him.
I was drawn to Briar Vale from the first time she looked up at me with stars in her big, blue eyes.
She was just a kid, nothing but elbows and knees, but she was the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen.
We could never be together.
I was too old and she was too off limits.
She was too good and I was too fucked up.
Eventually, the temptation became too much to resist.
I risked everything for a kiss and she betrayed me.
Three years have passed and I’m forced to see her again, but now she's all grown up.
She’s my best friend’s baby sister. My downfall.
I hate her for what she did.
But she's always been my drug of choice

Wow. This is my first ever Charleigh Rose book and I am shocked I haven't picked up one prior to this. The good thing though is that 2019 is the year for "book experimenting" and I plan to pick up a ton of new books by authors I haven't read before. This of course, was one of them. In Bad Habit readers will meet bad boy Asher and his best friends little sister, Briar. The two have always been close, maybe even a quite smitten with one another. But there was a little problem. Briar was only 14 and he 19 when they realized they had feelings for one another... Forbidden love? Hell. YES! I am a sucker for any type of forbidden love and this one HIT. THE. SPOT. Not only was she underage when they shared their first moment (I won't spoil and say WHAT type of moment), but he was her brothers BEST. FRIEND. All this combined? A pure TOUCHDOWN.
I felt so much angst coming from these pages. The buildup of their second meeting, the way the two want to hate each other but secretly lust for one another is HOT. There is a little drama (okay, maybe a bit more than just a little) but it works for the story. And the sex scenes are killer. Obviously, this book made me swoon. Another awesome thing about this book is that it DOESN'T end in a cliffhanger. So many books now a days do and this was really refreshing for me. That doesn't mean I didn't immediately pick up book 2 (because I did) but it's nice to know it's a standalone and features another one of the characters (interconnected, YAY) that I really liked.
That being said, I really loved this one and I am going to be watching out for more of the authors books are they are released. I also plan to hoard her backlist of books because her writing style is divine and something I really dig and connect with as a reader.
