I can’t believe I’m going to say this but… I’ve never read a book by Delores Fossen before! I know, it seems a little unreal because she has about 100 books published and she’s extremely popular when it comes to small town romances, but I hadn’t had a chance to read her until now. PHEW! I am so glad I did. Even more, I’m extremely excited for the next book in the series! I personally hope it’s Frankie and Tanner’s story but regardless I’ll be reading it anyway. These cowboy/rancher books are ADDICTING. Looks like Fossen made a new fan out of me!

Spring at Saddle Ranch is the first book in the Last Ride Texas series. From what I gather, each of the books can be read as standalone novels. However, if they follow characters that we get to know from previous books then I do recommend reading them in order. That’s so you don’t get any spoilers! Anyway, this is a small town, rancher romance. There’s a scandal with a bit of a mystery attached to it (which I LOVED), and a slow burn romance that will leave you ANXIOUS! Millie and Joe (and Dara) are al great characters, but I wanted to knock some sense into them! They clearly belonged together and watching them “try and keep it as friendship only” grated on my nerves! But it also adds to the spectacular and romantic ending so I guess I can’t fault them. They had good reasons for being afraid of love too (that scandal!).

What I also loved about this book is watching Millie sort of grow into being her own person. Her mother was HORRIBLE and there were many times I wanted to scream at her myself but when Millie finally grew a backbone it was wonderful to watch (or read, rather). I love seeing characters grow in novels and that happened here with Millie.

That all being said, this is a great book and I look forward to reading many more of the authors novels in the near future (especially the next book in this series). If you enjoy a sweeter romance with a little bit of steam (not overly erotic) then this is the book for you! I think it’s perfect for romance readers who don’t want their books too dirty and those who want something a little steamier than wholesome romances.
