Lake was everything I wanted, and nothing I could ever have. I was nobody before I knew her and a criminal after. The way to love her was to let her shine—even if it would be for somebody else.
Book two in the completed Something in the Way series, an epic saga of forbidden love. You must read this series in order.

I want to SOB right now. This book has absolutely RIPPED my heart out and torn it to shreds. Why, Jessica Hawkins!?! Why!?! I had so much hope. So much, and it's GONE. I can barely articulate my feelings about this book more than this. Somebody Else's Sky is the epitome of a slow burn, soul clenching, and angsty read. It's forbidden in more ways then one, but also messy, dramatic, and downright maddening. But even though all of this is true, it's still a really good book. Certainly not a book for everyone (it's got a love triangle my friends, and it is a chaotic one that will make you want to rip out your own hair), because many don't "do" love triangles in their novels. But I liked it, and really need to read the conclusion. And if this conclusion doesn't give me what I need? I will literally THROW my iPad out the window. GRRR!!!!
For readers who are unfamiliar with this series, please note that you HAVE to read it in order. Something in the Way (purchase here:http://amzn.to/2hIzOtz) is the first book, followed by this one, Somebody Else's Sky (purchase here: http://amzn.to/2zgFsKX) and finally the conclusion, Move the Stars (purchase here:http://amzn.to/2hf5Obu).
This is a forbidden romance series which starts off as an infatuation between a 16 year old girl and a man in his early 20's (he's 23 when they first meet, I believe). But not only this, it gets even more forbidden when the man our heroine, Lake, begins to fall for starts dating her sister. Sounds messy, right? Well,it freakin is!
In this one, we see a lot more of Manning. Most of the book is told in his POV (which I didn't like at first, but slowly got used to) and less in Lake's. I guess it's more his story to tell as he is recounting the trouble he's been in and how he is getting on with his life after it (I won't say what the problem is because it would spoil the book/series for you). Lake of course, is still a big part of the story, but not in an outward way. So readers will see a lot of Manning and his struggles in this one, plus his relationship with Tiffany (Lake's sister). This is what will really anger readers because we all have these hopes and dreams that things will turn out one way, but instead, they go in the opposite direction. So be prepared to go freakin crazy while reading this one. Other than that, I can't go into plot details because it will spoil it for readers who want to experience it. But i'll tell you this, you will want to pull your hair out...
Overall, even though my review is a big rant, I did like this book. I couldn't love it like I did the first one, but I liked it and WILL read the second book. Obviously, I need a little more closure then what I got from this one. If you like slow burn, angsty reads, then this is a must read series. If you are partial to love triangles, skip it. Because this one has a BIG one.
