Indie romance novels have been my “go to” reads for quite some time. Over the years I’ve read and even met some of these authors and have loved them so much that I chose their books over traditionally published ones. Don’t get me wrong, I love books that are traditionally published novels (future post to come) but there’s something about these books that get me! So, without further ado, here is a list I’ve compiled of 8 indie romance authors who I think every romance reader should read!

❄ MEGHAN QUINN

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗠𝗘𝗚𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗡𝗡? When I first started reading indie romances Meghan Quinn was among the first authors I’ve tried. Well guess what, she’s now one of my FAVORITE AUTHORS OF ALL TIME and I’m still obsessively reading her books! Below you can see 6 of my ultimate favorite books of hers and ones that I would recommend every romance reader.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗘𝗚𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗡𝗡 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: Meghan is best known for her romantic comedies. She has written more serious books (two duets which are actually love triangles) but my absolute favorites are her laugh out loud books.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: All of the series here are interconnected standalones.

❄ TARA SIVEC

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗦𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗖? I fell in love with Tara's books because she has a fantastic sense of humor. The first book/series I read (The Chocolate Lovers series) had me rolling on the floor laughing! Romcoms are my favorite types of books and because she writes them like a queen, she belongs on this list!

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗦𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗖 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: Tara writes mostly romantic comedies but she has also written a few emotional novels and a psychological thriller!

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: With the exception of The Chocolate Lovers series (Seduction and Snacks) and the Chocoholic series (Love and Lists), the rest of interconnected standalones.

❄ DEVNEY PERRY

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗡𝗘𝗬? Since I saw Devney's first cover for her debut novel, I knew she would be an author I would love. I know that sounds strange but it's the truth and has held steadfast. Since reading her first book, I've read every one and to say I'm hooked would be an understatement. She is a wonderful writer.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗡𝗘𝗬 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: Devney writes small town romances. One of her series (The Tin Gypsy series) is a bit grittier, but still fits in well with the small town feels I've come to love.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: All of Devney's series are interconnected standalones.

❄ MEAGAN BRANDY

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗡? When I'm in the mood for a gritty, new adult romance I go straight for a Meagan Brandy book. She writes these worlds so well that I've been immediately sucked in and can never forget about them.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗡 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗬 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: Meagan writes new adult romances. They tend to sway on the darker side, but not so dark that they need trigger warnings. They are definitely more gritty than anything.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: I recommend reading the Brayshaw series in order (that includes Be My Brayshaw; the 4th book that can technically standalone, and Break Me; part of the Brayshaw world but can technically stand alone. Her other novels (Fake It 'Til You Break It, Wrong for Me, and the Tender Hearts series)  can be read in any order.

❄ JEWEL E. ANN

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗝𝗘𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟? Jewel E. Ann writes some of the most unique romances I have ever read. Simple as that. She's a genius.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗝𝗘𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗘. 𝗔𝗡𝗡 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: She writes deeply emotional and unique romances but also has a few romantic comedies and contemporary romances with all the feels. I guess you could say she writes them all! And they are all perfect.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: Jewel has three series that must be read in order. These include The Jack & Jill series, The Life series, and the Transcend Duet. Her other books can be read as standalones.

❄ BRITTAINY C. CHERRY

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗬? Brittainy writes books that touch the heart. She hits all the emotions and delivers every single time. She's one of my favorite authors.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗬 𝗖. 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: Brittainy tends to write emotional romances that bring all the feels. If you haven't had the chance to experience one of her books then you are sorely missing out.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: All of Brittainy's books (excluding the Landon and Shay duet) can be read as standalones.

❄ EMMA SCOTT

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗘𝗠𝗠𝗔? Her words are poetic. She writes emotional novels that readers can connect with.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗘𝗠𝗠𝗔 𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗧𝗧 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: I think most of Emma's novels tend to sway on the emotional side. Doesn't matter if it's a young adult romance or a contemporary one, they all deal with strong emotions.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: With the exception of the Full Tilt duet and the Beautiful Hearts duet, her books can be read in any order. The includes her series of interconnected standalones. Her novel Someday, Someday is her first MM romance.

❄ KATE STEWART

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗘? Kate writes amazing angst. She's my go to when I want to feel it!

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦: Kate writes contemporary romance novels with all the feels! From love triangles, to darker romances, she can write it all! She also has written a few romcoms that were fantastic! I recommend them all!
